Threat Management - Don't Just Stand There

The awake, decisive you becomes aware of a threat looking and/or moving directly toward you. You are the target.
Move.
I realize this one word of advice probably makes no sense or sounds too easy and definitely too obvious. I don't recommend this as action #1 because I think you are too stupid to realize what to do, I recommend this because this advice runs counter to what you probably will do unless you have practiced and practiced moving. This is not running away in a blind panic, it's just moving from the spot you are standing to another spot and just keep doing that.
A person's reaction to some event is to try to figure out what is happening and then if the decision is made to fight, the person will hold his or her ground and face the threat. Yes, that's always what tough guys do in the movies. But it's also what dead guys did who ended up full of bullet holes - even if they had a gun in the first place.
If there is any kind of threat that is moving in your direction or that presents itself and is immediately going to cause you harm, get out of the way of that which would hurt you. If the threat starts to shoot, you move. First, move. Don't think, just move. Don't move straight back. Again, you're not running away, you are just getting out of the way. Move left, right or left forward or right forward. The threat won't expect it at all, in fact the threat will be completely caught off guard, and you will have given yourself portions of a second to think and act against the threat. That very small advantage can mean you win the fight.
Sheep will stand and bleat. Wolves will dart to the side and bite. You? Move and attack.
