The Most Powerful Dog

I've spent the last 20 years raising and training dogs, from purebreeds to rescue mutts. Usually there are between nine and fourteen dogs here at home. I trained one of the toughest dog breeds in the world, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, for a long time. The current guard dog is an 85 pound German Shepherd. I have fought dogs before and I would not ever want to take on the Shepherd. But, neither of those breeds are the most powerful. Nor is a Rottweiler or an American Pit Bull Terrier. I'm convinced that the most powerful, headstrong, tough, fastest, agile is the Jack Russell Terrier. My Jack Russell, who I was handed as a gift, is the winner of the most powerful contest. She does what she wants because she has the will to do just that. She plays with the big German Shepherd and he can't catch her. She gets carried outside in the morning, jumps up on the table when she wants (the other dogs know better than to do that) and she gets to sit on the back of the couch and enjoy the heat from the wood stove while all the other dogs are banished to the floor.
And, just now she followed me upstairs, past the cats and toys, as I went to get some more ink for my fountain pen. Her name is Abbie. Abbie has the heart of a 150 pound Caucasian Mountain Dog and the fierce tenacity of a Boston Terrier. I could not ask for a better "daughter." Or a more powerful protector and watchdog.
All 10 pounds of her.
