Logic And Choices

As I finally begin to see the end of changes in my own life, I can start to look ahead at what I want the (statistically) next 30 years to bring. Moving and moving and moving again. I used to hate moving, now I don't even give it any thought at all. There is definitely more freedom from owning less, and since what I own fits in my truck, moving is a 10 minute event. Looks like in two weeks I move again, but this time there may be some permanence as it's to a house on a horse ranch. Very remote, sounds very appealing. No logic there, it's a long drive and will use a lot of diesel, but it just seems right.

I have stayed with the big, heavy 1911 Government 45 ACP. I would have never believed that a year ago. It's too much weight, gets in the way and a pain in my hip but I trust it. I am still planning on getting a Browning Hi-Power to carry in a shoulder holster as a change of pace once in a while. But, I just don't quite have the trust in a 9mm that I do in a 45 ACP. Interesting and not sure whether there's any logic in that at all.

One thing I have learned that is just logic is that there is no reason to ever stand around anyplace while people threaten to kill you. The "good citizen" will say something about "oh, they have no guns so you can't shoot.." or some such bullshit. I have only one leg left that works and I am old and tired. If ever I see one of those people again (I drove off in my very fast truck the last time it happened), all bets are off and no quarter will be given. No talking, no nothing, everybody gets dead. I talked with a Sheriff about the situation and he felt that the best and safest action would be just that - don't talk, shoot.

Finally, I have always liked the rule: Don't do stupid things with stupid people in stupid places. Makes sense and will help to keep you out of trouble. Trouble is that stupid people are everywhere, so even if you are minding your own business in some safe place, here they come. Like zombies, they just appear. So, rather than being shocked that despite your safe and boring life, you are now accosted by dumb and dumber, quit thinking about it and just kill them.

Be a wolf. There are already too many sheep. And, be very careful.
