Contemplating Life
This I suppose is just an update more than anything. After moving 1,000 miles from where I lived for over 20 years, after various changes in my life, after some new lessons about people, I find that I tend to focus on what I find is important these days - and it's not guns or killing so much, though I do think one should have the ability to take care of problems if they arise. Guns? I have very few now and find that I have "come full circle" and back to the old 44 Magnum revolvers I had almost 40 years ago. It's a good handgun caliber and works where I am living now, since I don't expected to be in a gunfight with people. Up here in the mountains, a problem would come from a critter.
I've found that having "stuff" means you have to move all of it. Or take care of it. Trust me, you're better off without it. My most used tool now is a little Surefire flashlight. With that and a knife, you can fix it or break it. Check out Minimalist Journey on Facebook. This guy rocks. No thing is really very important, just wait until you lose the "things" - you may find that it really doesn't matter that much.
What is important? I find it's being able to look out the window and see mountains and pine trees and bighorn sheep. I find it's having someone around who truly loves you. I find it's the little "guard dog" (all three pounds of her) who wants to get under the blankets. I find it's the people who remain your friends, despite the threats they might have received just because I got tired of getting hammered with bullshit because I chose not to continue kissing an undeserving ass. Finally, it's being able to understand that God is right where you are, even though you may not hear from Him.
There's my sermon for a while. I'm going to have a drink with God and talk about Harley-Davidsons and life. Be careful if you ever pray to Him for wisdom as you may just have your prayer answered.
